Flatbed Trailers are frequently used to help transport loads that are heavier or more challenging to move. This can be due to the cargo being irregular in size or shape and make it extremely difficult to get good securement points to secure the cargo down for transportation. Some of these items can include anything from heavy machinery to heavy building materials.
Some of our most popular flatbed supplies products include Heavy Duty Winch Straps, Chain and Binders, Corner Protectors, and Coil Racks just to name a few. Flatbed Products can help minimize the challenges of attempting to secure these oddly shaped or in most cases extremely heavy cargo while helping to minimize the dangers of moving these loads safely. What are chain binders? Chain Binders can be known around the industry as Lever Chain Binders that are used to bind chain together when securing loads. They work by using each end piece being attached to each end of the chain you want the length of chain to be. The lever then is able to bring the two ends of chain closer together and begins to tighten the chain while locking the chain binder into place. This type of chain binders is known as lever chain binders and are a great method for securing cargo for the shipping industry.
The second form of Chain Binders is known as Ratchet Chain Binders. Ratchet Chain Binders are different than lever chain binders as they use a ratchet mechanism that is similar to ratchet straps to simply attaching both ends of the chain to the binder and using the ratchet handle to wrench the cargo together tightly. This will help bring the chain closer together and allowing the tightening of the chain to secure the load for transportation. If you need help selecting any of our chain binders that fit your load best please give our experts a call at 800-444-0956 or by using our online contact form located here
Flatbed Load Straps
Load Straps can consist of different tie down straps such as Ratchet Straps and Winch Straps that are designed to be specifically used for Flatbed Trucks and Trailers. These are our heaviest duty types of tie down straps and are made for the oddly shaped or extremely types of cargo that may need extra layers of protection to secure. Ratchet Straps work by using a Ratchet Mechanism that with each wind of the handle becomes tighter and due to the ratchet mechanisms design can not become weakened or untightened during tightening as the mechanism flows in one direction. Once the cargo has arrived at its final destination the cargo can be loosened by opening the handle completely and removing the polyester tie down webbing from the ratchet. These are one of the most common types of tie down straps inside of the professional trucking industry.
Winch Straps is also one of the most common types of tie down straps used mostly on the bad of Flatbed Trailers with the use of winch systems. Winch Straps are located on the outside rails of Flatbeds and allow for straps to be placed inside of the winch systems to be tightened once the desired amount of webbing has been pulled to the other side of the flatbed and cargo. Flatbed Winches can be used on trailers to secure cargo by using a Winch Strap. Winches are usually attached to the base of the trailer located on the side of a flatbed and help tighten winch straps into place by using a Winch Bar. Some flatbed trailers and professional trucking fleets may decide to use a Sliding Winch Track to allow the Winch to move locations to secure the cargo in different securement points. This making securing cargo from multi securement points to balance the load much easier.
